#Gains

No pain no gain! This is something that we hear and we relate it to the gym; you have to put in the hard work to get those 6 pack abs. I cannot say I know too much about that, but I do know about short term sacrifice for long term rewards in life. Those lessons that we can learn from watching someone transform their body can definitely be translated into our lives. I have heard it said that how we do anything is how we do everything. Unfortunately, I know that is true in a lot of ways in my own life. When you can create discipline in one area it will often carry over into others.

“Without vision the people cast off restraints” Proverbs 29:18 ESV

When Richard and I were dating, for 4YEARS, I would get frustrated, and it would be difficult. I had a very good friend that said to me, “You want what you want when you want it and you don’t even know how God is working on him.” That was really direct but true. I was only focused on my wants and nothing else. We have to stay focused on God and the vision He gives us for our lives. I wanted a God centered marriage, so I had to allow Him to work in and through me to get there. Ouch! Growth is not always pain free. You will be stretched.

It takes courage to be patient and decide you are in it (whatever “it” is for you) and lean into what God has placed before you. Sometimes we are praying for God to give us something; a better body, a new job, or purpose and God is waiting for you to move. We have to do our part. Reading a self-help book and not doing what it says is like reading a fitness magazine; it won’t work unless you do. This is where the courage comes in; you have to get out of your comfort zone. You will need to have the faith to believe it is possible, even when it looks impossible. You are worth it! God will give you what you need if you trust Him and start moving.

Then along comes what I like to call the deplorables; distraction, temptation, instant gratification, creative avoidance, and self-sabotage. It will take a commitment to stay focused on your vision and not give up or give in. You will have to sacrifice today to achieve the results you desire. It is one day at a time. God is strong in our weakness; stay close to Him. God wants to do a new thing. No matter who you are, where you have been, or what you have been through, God has His best for you. It is never too late!

“For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it?”

 Isaiah 43:19 NLT

In fitness we need a coach and we can have one in life as well. I love to work with women that are going through those transitions of life. You might be rediscovering who you are after a divorce or you feel like something is missing and desire to look for your purpose. It is all about amazing self-discovery and really living authentically. God made you perfectly! I would love to guide you in your journey.
