I am not wearing a mask anymore

I just wanted to hop on real quick and just let y'all know that I am not going to wear a mask anymore. This medical mask is not the mask I'm talking about. This kind of mask is not my favorite, but I think they are going to be with us for a little bit. The kind of mask I am talking about is also frustrating. It could also make you resentful, a little overwhelmed, and definitely exhausted. The mask I am talking about is the one of people pleasing. You know, the one where we try to make everybody happy, we seek approval, and we want to be liked. That's the one I'm talking about. This is your time, this is your year to stop trying to be everything to everyone, to stop worrying about other people's opinions, and stop trying to keep up with those unspoken expectations.

You were made by the God of the universe; you were made perfectly on purpose for a purpose. So get rid of the mask of people pleasing. You have everything that it takes to have and be all that that God created you to be. The way you talk, the way you laugh, your gifts, talents, and abilities. All of that is enough. You do not need everyone to like you, your people, they're going to love you. You were made for everything that God has for you.

It is exhausting trying to wear a new mask with every new person that you are trying to please. It's that thing of being a chameleon, whoever I'm with is whoever I'm like. Who you are is enough. What we are really attracted to is authenticity and vulnerability. It takes courage to be who God made you to be. It takes even more courage to be vulnerable enough to be seen. That's the hard part. Allowing others to see you. But the good news is that we have everything we need because we are empowered by the Holy spirit. He has empowered us to be who we were created to be. We do not have to be anybody else. He gives us the courage and the strength to do it.

These last few months, our lives have all been turned upside down. We have been stripped back. The busyness of life has been stripped back. This is the perfect time that we can regroup, reset, and lean into God. Ask him, how does he see you, how did he make you, so that you can get clear on your identity and really know who you are. It's not too late. No matter how old you are, no matter what you've been through, it is never too late to have and be all that God has for you.

2020 has been one big plot twist. It has been nothing that anyone thought this year would be. None of us could have predicted all the changes that we've gone through, all the experiences we've had and honestly, the grief, the trauma, and all the things that we're experiencing.

But what I do know is that we now have an opportunity, to shift, to embrace that plot twist, and write the screenplay of our life. We can make choices as to how we are going to live the second half and what do we want to do now? But let us do it without the mask, the mask of people pleasing.

One of my favorite things that I do is my freedom workshop, and we are unable to do it live this year. So, I have created an online course and we are going to be launching it in the next couple of weeks. It is going to be an opportunity to spend some time with God, ask him how he sees you. We are going to be letting go of some lies that we may have spoken over ourselves or others have spoken over us.
you will get some clarity on your values, create vision, and dream about the future. You will finish the workshop feeling equipped to move to this next season.

If this is something that might interest you, you can leave a comment or drop me a message. Whenever it does come out, I will send the info to you.

But in the meantime, I just wanted to hop on and encourage you that this is the time that we get to not become someone new but become more of ourselves. To let go the mask that we've been wearing of people pleasing and embrace who God made you to be.
