"You would not believe it even if I told you"

Yesterday Richard and I celebrated our third wedding anniversary. It is crazy how fast time has gone by! It is funny, while we were dating for four years that time seemed to go so slow. When we are waiting for something being patient can be so difficult. If anyone had told me on my wedding day where we would be in three years I would not have believed it.
I was reminded this morning of Habakkuk 1:5.
“Look at the nations and be amazed, for I will do something in your days that you would not believe even if I told you.”
I see everyday how God is in control. When I look back on the opportunities we have had, the people we have met, and the healing that Richard received from cancer. Gods favor and grace cannot be explained. I love to journal so that I can look back and see where I was and how far I have come. Some times God answers prayers I have forgotten I prayed.
It is easy to see when God does something big like heal from cancer, but what about the little things, do you notice? God cares about the details. Have you ever received a random small check in the mail that was just enough to cover the surprise supply fee your son brought home from school? What about getting front row parking in the rain? I know I throw up those little prayers throughout the day. Have you ever met a stranger that said just what you needed to hear that day? Or you are the one blessed with the free coffee in the Starbucks line and thank goodness because you did not need to spend that money but you sure needed the caffeine. Do you remember to say thanks?
God loves us so much! You might not feel that loved right now. I know in my finances, as we have stepped out in faith, our math and Gods math does not make sense. However, we know that God is working behind the scenes.
I heard this story about the Chinese bamboo tree. When you plant the bamboo tree, you fertilize it, you water it, and you wait. You will have to repeat this year after year for four years, with little to no growth in sight. On the fifth year, in as little as six weeks, the bamboo tree will grow as much as ninety feet tall! During that time of waiting, the tree was growing roots and a foundation that would be able to support all of that growth.
I believe our lives are the same. Boy do I know about the four-year wait. When we stay the course, when we walk in obedience to where God leads, and have patience; God will prepare you and build a foundation for the abundance that is coming
“The thief comes to steal kill and destroy, but I have come that you may have life and have it abundantly” John 10:10
