Drop the Blanket (Guest Post Dawson 15)

In the show Charlie Brown Christmas, Linus gives a speech explaining the meaning of Christmas to Charlie Brown. In it he quotes Luke 2:10. When Linus says "Fear Not”, he drops his blanket and finishes his speech without it. The significance behind this is huge! Anyone who has ever watched Charlie Brown knows that Linus never does anything without his blanket; it is what comforts him and makes him feel safe, so for him to drop his blanket and finish the rest of the speech without it is a big deal. 

You may be thinking, "Good for Linus, he is growing up." It is so much more then that. Linus is living out “Fear not" and trusting that God will help him with the rest of his speech. Do you think Linus wanted to drop his blanket? No, but he did it. We must get comfortably uncomfortable for Jesus. We have to "Fear not" and know that the Big Guy upstairs has our back. 

We have to trust God and be all in and not just half way. We can not say, "I like that God and I will do this, but I don't know about that, I like where I am at." 

What do you need to trust God with? Maybe it is your finances. Maybe it has been a little rough lately so you have been skipping out on God. You have to be all in, because God can and will do more with that money then you could do with it in your bank account. God says “test me in this.”

God is not going to let you fall flat on your face. When you think he has, he is really just shutting a door. Sometimes he has to shut doors so he can open bigger and better ones. We have to let go of good so that God can give us great. “Fear Not”, for He is with you.

“And there were in the same country shepherds, abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them! And they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, “Fear not! For, behold, I bring you tidings o great joy, which shall be to all my people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ, the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you: Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.” And suddenly, there was with the angel a multitude of the Heavenly Host praising God, and saying, “Glory to God in the Highest, and on Earth peace, and good will toward men.”
