Putting My Brave On

Don’t judge a book by its cover. In the picture above, these books, are my journals. I began journaling in 1996. I used to watch Oprah and she would talk about how awesome it is to journal, so I thought, if it’s good for O, it’s good for me.
I began writing as a prayer journal; Dear God… I would share the things that were going on in my life and write my prayers to God. I have documented my journey from hearing about purpose and wondering if I had one, to the struggles in my marriage and the fear I had while walking out the door with one box, my kids, and our clothes.
I also wrote stories of celebration; like when I was able to buy a house for my boys and me, and about meeting the man of my dreams on an online dating site. Mainly, I am pouring my emotions out to God. The good and the bad.
I remember one-time when I heard Oprah say that when she dies that her best friend Gail has orders to burn her journals. Haha I get that, and I am not even famous! I would never want anyone to read mine. I seem so pathetic talking about guys. Does he like me, does he not, blah blah blah ugh!
Well…things have changed. This year Richard and I have signed a publishing deal with Kregel Publishing. We will actually have a book in Barnes and Noble in 2019! We are beyond thrilled to have the opportunity to share our story of dating after divorce. God wrote such an incredible story and we are blessed to share it. Here’s the thing, I am using my journals to help us recollect the moments as well as publishing excerpts from them. Brene Brown might be proud of my vulnerability. Myself, I am a little nervous. I don’t know about you, but that little voice in my head that says, “what will people think”, can get a little loud.
So…just to kick it up a notch, I am not going to wait for the book, I am going to include you on this writing journey. Starting next week, I will be doing Facebook Live. I am going to be sharing some stories and excerpts from my journals and my life. My prayer is that, through these stories, someone will be inspired to do something different. When we want something different, we have to do something different. We can break those old patterns and have the abundant life that God promises us.
I believe that we all have a desire to be seen, to be known, and to be loved. That takes vulnerability.
Friends, I hope you will join me on this journey! If I can be vulnerable, I know you can too! Let’s Put our Brave on together. You were made for more!
I will be sharing videos here as well as The Right Combination Facebook page. Let’s have a Brave conversation. Please leave me comments and let me know if you will be watching!
If you would like to visit one on one, I would love to do a free call with you. I love to hear what its going on in your life.
