The Harvest is Here!

Happy 2019! I am starting to believe what they say about the years going faster as you get older. 2018 has already come and gone. I wanted to make sure that I took a moment to reflect on all that happened before I rush right into the new year.
2018 was a big milestone for me, I turned 50. It’s not like I didn’t know it was coming, I just didn’t anticipate all of the different emotions and thoughts, among other things, that came along with this age. While I was turning 50, two of our four kids were getting married, one was getting engaged, and the other is about to graduate from high school and begin his career as a hairstylist. It’s the end of an era.
So what now? Here is what I have realized, that although the life I knew is changing, when something ends it means something new is beginning. I am looking forward to what God wants to do in our family.
Do you have a word for the year? Last year mine was growth. After a couple of years of working to grow my coaching practice and writing a book, I was excited as my business grew, we signed a publishing deal with Kregel Publishing, and we held The Brave Gathering event for women. Growth for sure! What I also realized as I looked back was that we grew the family by four! When God gives you a word for the year, it gives you focus, intention, hope, and expectancy for what He wants to do in and through you. A few years ago, as my husband and I took a risk to give up my income and start The Right Combination, my word for the year was courage.
This year as I was wondering what my word might be, I can’t even say I was praying I was just wondering to myself, I immediately heard the word Harvest. I didn’t even have to think about it! That is the kind of word we want to hear! The harvest is here. I quickly remembered a sermon that I heard from Pastor Steven Furtick, called Harvest Problems. He said we all seem to think that when the harvest comes that we get to sit back and enjoy it, but “the corns not going to pick itself”. The Harvest for a farmer is when the work begins.
As I look forward to 2019, I know that the fruit that our ministry produces is not for us. My prayer for this year is that the harvest we produce is seen in the impact we can make in the lives of others. Richard and I are excited for The Brave Gathering 2019, other speaking opportunities, one on one coaching, and in the fall the release of The Right Combination; Finding Love and Live after divorce.
I share what is happening in hopes that you will be inspired in your dreams. God is a God of order, it will take courage to step out in faith, it will take patience and perseverance to keep going when you can’t see anything happening, and it will take faith to believe that nothing is impossible with God. Dream big! God has amazing things for you!
