Insanity

I realized about 5 years ago that I was insane!
The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. I am usually the first one to encourage people to step out and follow their dreams. I believe that I have the gift of encouragement and I also know that God has placed giant dreams in my heart.
There are days that I have feel that I am stepping out and going after them, the way I encourage others to do, other days not so much. It took God pulling the rug out from under me to realize that I was firmly planted on that rug.
One of my favorite books is The Dream Giver by Bruce Wilkinson. In the book, there is a parable about a guy name Ordinary and he lives in the land of familiar. The Dream Giver gives ordinary a dream to chase, and he will have to leave his home in familiar to achieve it. Like Ordinary, I realized that I say I want to follow my dreams, but I keep running back to Familiar. Where is your Familiar? What is your comfort zone? What dream has God given you?
With a big push from God, I am leaving Familiar! I am saying farewell to status quo, taking the steps away from my comfort zone, and resting on His promises.
“For I know the plans I have for you says The Lord, plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans for a Hope and a Future.” Jeremiah 29:11
I skimmed over this familiar verse a few days ago and felt like God said No, go back and take another look, no matter how many times you have heard it, it is true.
“Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us” Ephesian 3:20
That dream that looks impossible to me, that is the one God wants to do through me.
“I can do all things through Christ that strengthens me.”
Not by my strength and not by yours, with Christ Nothing is Impossible!
Sandy Krakowski wrote a book called #BeMore. In it she talks about how we should live our lives with expectancy for the amazing things God can and will do in our lives. She talks about how as children we do not expect to be disappointed; children believe for the best. “Think about it: Children do not expect that Santa Clause will disappoint them. No! They put out cookies! They Believe!”
I do not know about you, but I am “putting out cookies”! No, I am not comparing God and Santa. What I am talking about is childlike faith. Believing that God is who He says He is and that His promises are true. I want to live my life in a way that even when I cannot see a way that I will step in faith, knowing that God can make a way. I pray that you will join me.
